I am in the middle of getting my cs30 and cs31 I live in Northern Ireland. I have done a bit of chainsaw work before, and would like to know how keen employers are about employing newly qualified people for work?

I have a HGV license and have always fancied doing treework for a living. I could work anywhere as I have been used to doing that in work. I am 32 yr old and have my own transport, I would also like info on kit like what saw should I buy? New or used? And where is the best place to buy clothing etc?

Your help would be appreciated in this as it's not easy cheers.

Hey wired4smoke i'm new here too 31 in age and also always fancied doing tree work, I'm through my 30, 31 and national certificate... now I'n studying my 38, 39 and extended national deploma... heh nice to see like minded people.... I've always use Honey Brothers at Arborist Equipment - Tree Surgeon Supplies - Climbing Accessories .. thing i've noticed most is that all places have similar prices you ma save a few quid here or there but only real discounts I've found is at the arb shows.. hope this helps I'm sure many others have ideas on where to buy from.

tbh without tickets theres no chance of work in the industry... at least with tickets your on a par with everyone else.

No you aren’t, not by a long chalk.

I am sure this doesn’t apply universally but I have seen quite a few, newbies with plenty of tickets who were useless. Not much good on a job and definitely not on a par.

On the other hand I have seen plenty of people who have picked the job up with minimal training and gone on to do tickets.

Tickets are a tick in a box, aptitude and experience are better.

I couldn't agree more with you treequip, it's the same as people buying the best gear on the market and there still a danger to themselves, there's a saying ain't there, "All the gear still no idea". We live in a world now where if you don't fork out money to qualify yourself you get nowhere. Even thou you could be handy enough with a saw.
