felling licence?

Recommended Posts

Hi i have a client who owns a non tpo'd small woodland, not in a conservation area or anything, he wants the lot clearfelled inc a couple of mature trees, approx 200 trees in total, does he need a felling licence for this? i got one before from the forestry commission but that was for a tpo'd wood, does it just apply to volume? thanks, Ed.:001_smile: (there is definitely more than 5cubic metres being removed)

believe me im not going anywhere near it till everything is ok'd on paper, its not even in my town, the guy wants it clearfelling and cutting to 8ft lengths for a wood supplier so i don't even get the wood:thumbdown:, might go see it at the weekend and if it looks dodgy i'll phone the local tree officers, guy seems genuinely sound but you never know

We have to apply for a felling license each year as we fell alot of trees on our sites. We got a big telling off from the local FC Officer a few years ago as someone had reported seeing large stacks of timber on an old railway line we were clearing. The landowner had a felling license but couldn't find it. So we now have a hard copy in the office and a photcopy in both trucks just incase the FC Officer comes round again.
