i currently run a mazda b2500 non turbo and a ranger tipper , both of these vehicles are great work horses , i have had the mazda nearly 5 years and in that time it has been abused every day its been out on site , in 5 years i have had alomst no trouble with it at all other than glow plugs etc , i have now had the ranger tipper a year and im really pleased with it , fair enough the fool i bought it off had not been totally honest but after sorting out the crap he had bodged its a great truck . the way i se it is if Western Power are prepared to use them for off road work then its man ebough for what i want to do .

What year / plate is your Ranger on mate? :001_smile:

Had a mazda (B2500 or whatever they are) towed a tracked chipper / ifor williams combo about most of the time. it was a 55 plate if my memory serves me correct. Seemed OK and never got stuck (although we did have to 'winch' it out using a ratchet strap and the chipper a time or two)

Also had a Ranger tipper. New on a 57 plate. OOOOOH the clutches! don't remind me of the clutches!

I think due to the ford factor im goting to go for the Toyota Hilux!

I know the Ranger is a Re-badged Masda which is good as its likely to be more reliable than if it was ford made! But from what ive heard they still have issues!

Also Ford have never been well known for customer service and after care!

Now ive got to try and decide on the Extra Cab or the Double Cab Another hard choice why cant they all be the same lol

The Ranger does 3Ton

Hilux 2250

But would toyota be being conservative on that so that the machine doesnt get over worked causing faults!?

Looking at the torque the

3.0 Ranger 380Nm

3.0 Hilux 360Nm

2.5 Ranger 330Nm

2.5 Hilux 343Nm

Maybe im not decided! wish i could have each for a week

I run a ranger towing a tracked chipper, been very reliable. I had a 2002 model from new, for 6 years. I now have an 08 model from new. I have never bought more than service parts & tyres for both trucks.
