I've got a Botex its an old one but its very good. Used the new 560TL and its VERY good 2.8t lift close in and 500kg odd at 6m. Friend of mine has an FMV crane roof mount again very good. Check out Kelsa cranes from caladonian forestry services looking at getting ones of those over a Botex at the moment.

A roof mounted crane is very different to a tellihandler why the change? Its about 67k for a new Valtra N111 with a 570TL roof mount crane.

Im looking for a crane without a trailer

A 3 point linkage mounted one would be without a trailer (unless you bought a trailer to go with it)

Pretty much any timber crane out there can be supplied three point linkage or made to be three point linkage with a bit of thought. or do you mean you want Cab/roof/jake frame mounted?

Main thing to consider is whether the tractor will be of sufficient weight to handle it and whether the crane has the correct angles to clear the cab if you run it slewed over the front.

thanks chris, thats what i was trying to say, you can get most cranes to fit 3 point linkage, and as you very rightly put it consideration must be made to weight of tractor if needs be add wheel weights or ballast wheels, additional weights to front of tractor etc - if adding crane to tractor permanently, remember if tractor ever needs brakes sorting etc or clutch repaired you will have to split the tractor and most probably remove the crane, so a big job can get very big if roof mounted

for firewood production just on 3pl would suffice as you wouldnt need to lift mega size pieces i would have thought and the tractor isnt compromised if needed to use it for other implements, buying a 3pl on its own 2nd hand could prove more difficult than buying a new one, as they are so versatile people usually hold on to them as a yard crane and never resell. - just my thoughts

i see also you said for "doing site work" , if going onto somewhere working a crane you really need to have FMOC certification to show competance and knowledge of risk zones i would have thought, unless for private use
