on my second 441 fresh today its so clean my wife would let me take it to bed haha

seriously though my 2nd 441 and they are a fantastic saw plenty of grunt lite enough for all day use and fuel efficiency is great had my dealer stick a 20in bar on her.

normaly use a 18in bar which in my opinion is perfect.

i have been known to run a 660 with a 18in bar oh my god feels like the saw wants to rip your arms of

If im right the 460 isthe same weight as the 441. I dont find either heavy to use all day but then agin im used to using them .

Personally I run a 441 as my every day saw, 20", low vibration levels, good fuel use and pleanty of power.

THey are the same weight (at 6.6kg i think) but i found the 460 not as well balanced as the 441 and a bit 'reachy'

I'm essentially still between the two, and the conversation on this is inconveniently split between the two!

Who's had any issues with either of these saws? And how hard do you find maintenance?

My primary use for the saw will be thinning work, so i'll also open this up to people's opinions on alternative saws for use all day with thinning.

I know I'm against the 441 but I love stihl I just don't like that saw I've worked all over as free lance and I've seen loads of the 441s broken in peoples lock ups I've worked around people who don't look after gear and hammer the saws flat out everyday and the 372 seems to take it along with the 440 but not the 441 IMO if your thinning all day and could use something smaller I think the 357s go well and the stihl 026 does really for it's size

:dito: I used one for the first time last winter and was thoroughly impressed. I'd always just assumed it was going to be heavy and numb for a small CC saw but what it really is is a big saw in a little body - we used to use 365's as all rounders at Birdsall and they were slugs compared to the 357
