You can replace the housing seperately dave

 

Tom, definately knckered mate, just flog it to me for £50 and I'll come down, collect and scrap it for you :biggrin:

 

Yes, but its as big a job as changing the whole thing, plus the quickest way to get them off the shaft, is with an angle grinder and chisel, which usually leaves the bearing a little worse for wear :001_rolleyes:

....dont i know it......

I have just replaced a bearing.....had to cut the old one off after houre with a 14lb sledge wouldnt move it. put the new one on and i think i have put it on backto front, hence this thread. Had to beat it off, so another new one required in the morning.:thumbdown: what a knob:laugh1:

We've all done it, but that experience is priceless. You'll never make the same mistake again:blushing::blushing:

 

So much easier to be able to service/repair your own gear
