There was an enormous ammount of it on the gorse, the colour matching the gorse flowers themselves.

Thats an absolute corker of an image, best ive seen of the aurantia.

 

less than a month to go on the competition now, i expected things to slow down as the temps went down, but with the recent warmer wetter weather we may well see a renewal of the fungi

i think the first lot are daedaleopsis confragosa, the black stuff i've no idea and theres some piptopourus betulinas at the end

trichia botrytis i think is most likely candidate or a close relative, common on bark apparently:001_cool: good find, do love an obscure one, mos wouldnt have bothered with that!

it was like black furry velvet with tiny bubble like silvery things shimmering, well i thought it was pretty!!

They are very primitive fungi, probably not even classed as fungi now, but not sure, the little black shiny things you describe are like a tiny head or ball on a sort of stalk, the black powdery stuff comes from the little balls on stalks exploding to release their spore:thumbup1:
