Though they've been slated i use Stihl, a Kombi system (The KM130R's) with the hedge cutter attachment. They're pretty good for all i've been cutting (laurel, hawthorn, privet)

No complaints so far, except the vibrations. Then there is always something to complain about.

I also have a pair of Jonsered HT21's, they make a nice job of privet hedges.

Sorry to de-rail the thread but can anyone recommend an echo parts suppler?

Echo had some supply difficulties earlier in the year based on the financial times we are going through meaning the importer Countax couldn't borrow in the usual way. I believe the MD and founder of Countax has walked / retired and Countax is now under the ownership of Ariens USA which is good news for Echo parts when things have caught up. Ariens was distributed in the UK by FGM Claymore but is now direct. Stupidly Countax think Shindaiwa will sell better in the UK than Echo since the two are co-owned by Yamabiko corporation altho Echo-Kioritz and Shindaiwa stay seperate co's. Hopefully Ariens will have better ideas.

Anyway, re Echo parts, are you in need and struggling to get or just wondering?

I did get a "special" price thanks to TCD (Jon) from a shop down his way in Plymouth. I think Echo said they retail for around 330 +vat, as its near the end of season may be some cracking deals around now.

here is a picture of Excalibur the Echo, a stunning work of art and craftsmanship, truly worthy of the name:thumbup:

I agree these are great hedgecutters. My stihl R model cuts through thick stuff but fumes are pretty horrendous. I've had a couple of huskies in the last few years which have been piles of crap (vibrated to bits)- not sure how their latest models perform. Best one i had was a husky 225 ? which was brilliant- they stopped making them!
