Kevlar rope its 12mm ,80ft long have been told could go on the winch ?

Its brand new and normally used for rigging on big sailing ships ?

What do you lot reckon . Done some research and its stronger than steel but doesnt fair well in uv rays ie in the sun . So why would they use it on sailing ships . Kevlars in the core and its covered with a braid , maybe to protect it from uv rays . Anyway in reality its 10.5 mm kevlar with braid covering . Cost me peanuts worth a go ?

doesnt the winchrope need to be kept tight onto the drum? as in loaded under slight tension, i'd fit it then do some winching to see what the stretch is like, if you are happy with it you need a winch cover for the rays man..:thumbup1:

oh and a polished fairlead instead of the rollers i think..

It should be OK as long as the fairlead doesn’t chew it up. Most fibre winch lines like a softy alloy fairlead

If it’s as cheap as you say why not suck it and see?

Aye for sure both you and armchairarborist say new fairlead as mine has rollers and could damage the rope . So we,ll see how it goes
