If its in use..( and it rather looks as though it is from the shiny metal in the pics ) it should ought to be on the LOLER sheet ? Name and number I would think. :sneaky2:

Yeah, it is fairly old, not used as a primary block for a while, but sitting in one of the rigging kit bags allthesame.

Guys just highlighted it during it's Loler.

Just noted myself that one of the alan locking bolts on the lower pulley wheel pin is missing.

For the bin methinks.

Still interested in the name & rating though.

Here you go, thanks to Sean over at the Treehouse.

That is an old Hobbs block, which has a distinctive vertical reinforcing piece on the one side like that. They also have much larger sheave diameters that any other brand and a unique t-bar handle pushed through a allen bolt head at the top. If this is the 3/4" or 1" capacity, then it is 80,000 lb break strength, which is stronger than any other arborist block. Hobbs blocks were the first arborist block ever made, and when it first came out I understand that it was the only alternative to a 30-60 lb steel tail-hold block like are used in high-lead rigging. These things are no longer in production as of spring 2010, but when they were they sold for $300-400. You cannot buy these anymore, and even if you could you probably couldn't afford it. That there is a beautiful little gem.
