interesting, amazed it hadnt dropped yet!

 

Wonder if it is related to moisture desication after sporolation.

 

Maybe the quicker they dry out the lighter they are & the longer they stay attached.

 

 

this one is pretty dry.

 

 

Should be a soggy black lump of mush on the floor :confused1:

Im sure your right, although its unusual for such an exposed body to dry out and remain, usualy its those that are sheltered and overhung to some degree.

Someone tipped me off to a bracket at height on an 'Oak' a while back.

Remembered about it today & was in the area so went had a butch.

 

The thought of a dryadeus up on the trunk got me a little interested. :blushing:

 

Turned out to be 'Ash' & just a bunch of old desicated Inonotus hispidus.......boooo :biggrin:
