Evening! My climbing saws playing up at the moment. Only started today. Wont rev up properly, start it as normal then every time i pull the trigger it goes bur bur bur then cuts out. If persistant i can eventually get it to full revs, make the cut wwhich is ok then let the revs drop pull the trigger again and bur bur. You get the idea.

Really hope its not a carb problem, i know of a few saws that have done this. Its just coming up to two years old.

Anybody have some info on this?

Cheers

sounds like a carb problem , saws do not tend to go that far out of tune overnight no matter how bumpy the ride home was the day before , however are you using new fuel , or using someone elts fuel? , im sure you have but have you checked the air filter and fuel filter ? also you may well have a minute hole in the fuel pipe which is letting to much air in , if you have tried all of them then i would be almost sure that it was a carb fault , you will need to get the make and model of the carb which is clearly stamped on the side of the car (PITA to get to mind) give stihl techniquical a ring and give them the make and model number of the carb , they will soon let you know if its the duff carb that they seem to have carried on fitting in the ms200 even though they know its a wrongun , oh and unlike Husky you will have to pay for a replacement. hope this is of use to you

Thanks for both your input. To be honest i didant haved the time to give it a proper checking other. I just whopped the silky out and got on with some exercise :001_smile:

Will check it out tomorow. I`ll start with the basics then work my way back to the more expensive. I will check the carb out of interest. Cant i phone the local chainsaw shop about it does it have to be stihl technical?

Yeah i like stihls atitude on that. " Yep theres a few problems with the old carbaretta but instead of replacing it with a decent one will just use it anyway and hope noone notices!!

I recently had a similar problem , cured now . My saw would run ok but would not pick up, had to tickle throttle to get the reps up.

I went through the lot stripped the exhaust and scraped the coke out.

New spark plug and fuel pick up.

Ran engine whilst spraying carb cleaner, followed by removing diaphragms from carb & spraying more carb cleaner.

None of the above worked so new inlet manifold ( that's the rubber bit between carb & engine block .

Problem cured.
