Liam, as an astute observer you will notice that I lingered a moment after the cut,if the nest had missed the bin I was getting in it instead!!

Good work. I can't stand them got chased by a swarm once until i couldn't run anymore. Turned round and they were all over my trousers and jacket. I threw my jacket on the floor just then started jumping all over it just as a couple rounded the corner!! I only got stung three times:001_huh:. Anyway as this couple came past they must have thought i was nuts ranting on about wasps and jumping all over my jacket:lol:. I find now though that i get stung at least once a year:thumbdown:.

hahahaha reminds me of a time working on a steep banking covered in waisthigh brash, climber dropped a chunk onto a bush with a nest in right next to me.. nearly broke my neck diving over the brash trying to get down hill as fast as poss.. he was laughing his head off trying to get camera out

few years ago i was in a wood cutting up a wind blown ash, didnt realise i was standing on a nest till they started stinging. dropped the saw and legged it. the wasps followed me for a bit then they went back to the still running saw and went mental around it. counted the stings on my arms 10. i keep piriton in the first aid kit (non drowsey for just such an occasion but more for horse fly bites, i get a really bad reaction to them)

These were euro wasps,I get an alergic reaction /hospital visit when they get me,frightening !

Yep,& nest outside a lot,hence in the dripline of the canopy with that one.

my parents had a nest between the shutter and window, huge nest it was, bigger than a football. Nasty things.

I got stung by one,I dont get affected by normal wasps& bees,within 5 minutes I was itching heavily all over,chest & larynx pain,headache,severe rash all over etc,not nice!

They love to nest in shrubs bushes & low in trees,the nests are dificult to see,and they will go for you if you disturb or knock the nest.

We should be aware of them,as they nest in places where our trade will bring us into their habitat,often without us seeing them before they get all buzzed up.

Heres a pic of this one,I had pruned above it on this wingnut,thats when it became visible .

i was innocently whacking through some himalayan balsam at one end of the yard with some thinwall piping on wednesday, walked back nearly the full length of the yard before two bees started stinging me, i couldnt see them so whipped my jumper off, one inside my jumper and one inside my teeshirt. this is what the stings looked like after 5mins, four days on i can still feel the swelling a bit.. that'll teach me
