My 18 year old son who is waiting to go to Uni asked if he could help today for wages ... in the end I would have got more done on my own

I feel your pain. Similar experience with a 21 year old . It does not last for ever and we all start somewhere :thumbup1:

if your worried about narly wood then get a dalen more money but more machine and can easily handle most things

also i don't think anyone has mentioned the added costs as everything gets bigger

so ideally you need a loader tractor and telehandler to handle the processed wood

and to get the processor working at its best you either need a log deck or a second person

if you have a logdeck you need a machine to load it if an extra person you need to pay there wages

Quite right, you buy one bit of kit to make life easier, then all of a sudden you need loads of other stuff! All stuff that needs to be put somewhere safe, transported, insured, maintained, filled with fuel, etc etc,

We didn't produce & consequently sell as much before we got bigger, & granted we were knackered every day, but knackered from swinging an axe is a damned sight more satisfying than pushing levers & having a noisey briggs & scrappem whining in your ear all day!:001_rolleyes:
