firewood processors

hi all

i am in the process of gaining quotes for a firewood processor.

i am looking at a hakki pilke 1x37 or similar - does any one know of any good dealerships or a place where processors are for sale?

having done a bit of research i think the 1x37 is probably the best considering the cost/quality for my budget but if anyone uses other machines feel free to leave feedback on them

thanks

Chris

1st question have you got your wood organized you will need a lot to warrant a processor.

I am biased because I have been useing them since 1995 but you cannot go wrong with the palax range the combi is quick ,simple and affordable to run part time or full time very good people at calledonian forestry as well.

I have only used the saw blade models and the people I know who have had accidents were all chainsaw models.Less sawdust with a blade and no oil or chains to keep buing.Hope this helps Big Chris.

If you still have the guards in place ( as you should do) it shouldn't be possible to have an accident with a chainsaw type, I certainly haven't. But I second the recommendation for Palax and Caledonian Forestry.

I don't know why so many people have Hakki machines. Ok they're cheap but so is a Dacia Duster, one's about as good as the other in my opinion...

PALAX is a bit more the day you buy it; but you'll still have it long after the Hakki is in the skip and if you decide to sell/change you still have a desirable machine with a good resale value.

Caledonian Forestry & Oakleaf Forestry are the Palax dealers.

Buy the right machine once!

I have to ask if the palax is the right machine to buy once why are people on their 2nd 3rd etc. I only have experience on posch myself it is one of the more expensive out there but 6 yrs without a problem.

reason I didn't buy palax initially was the blade, same as on the cheapest posch I prefer the sealed blade where the wood can't skirt around which is on the larger processors.

I had 4 palax one every 3 years brand new never went wrong and got such good trade ins that it made financial sense and kept the things up to date .

I was expecting it to work 6 days a week all year which they did.My current palax is 6 years old but it is the 100s not a bend or dent on it a few new belts

sharpen the blade once a year change the filter etc.Do not see why it won t

out do me as I am getting on a bit!

Every one has there preffered makes so pay your money and take the choice.

Cheers Chris.
