090/075 bar compatability

I've got an 075 that I acquired ages ago when I brought some other stuff. I've just brought a 36" bar for it from a 090. Looking at the specs it would appear that it should fit but doesn't. The holes are in the wrong place.

It looks like I may be able to drill some new holes into the bar to make it fit. Is this wise or a really bad idea?

The plan is to get an alaskan mill and use the saw for milling...........but as with all good intentions.... Failing that anybody wana buy an 075 with an 090 bar that doesn't quite fit..........

Is it the oil holes that don't line up correctly?

Looking in the Oregon book bars for a 08, 08S, 076, 084, 088 and MS880 will all fit an 075.

If it's just the oiler hole that doesn't line up you can prob just drill another.....

I might put the lot on ebay. I've got to much junk - I mean stuff lying about!!

Would you say milling puts much wear and tear on a bar/saw. I'm wondering if I ever do get round to getting a mill if I could just use my 650 with 36inch bar without it being to detrimental?

I'm guessing that's the bar you brought from me - sorry to hear it doesn't fit, I thought it all lined up OK when we tried it in tesco car park!

someone else replied to the thread about the sale saying something like damn too late, you might like to contact him and ask if he's still interested?

cheers,

Joe

No worries mate, it all looked good. Someone has told me that they had to drill a bar to make it fit with no adverse problems so I may yet try that. If not I may well email them and see if they're still interested.

Hope the carvings going well.
