Strewth, that Rotor S looks useful, I've emailed the makers in the unlikely hope that they've sold one into the UK. I've been wanting to clear a couple of acres of Sitka stumps for a while now, that looks perfect for the job: almost as fact as grubbing up and no piles of stumps to deal with, a quick run with a mulcher for debris and brash and I'd have usable ground straight away....

There are other makes; go onto Youtube and search 'stump grinder'.

Aye, plenty of grinders, but that thing appears to split stumps in place, haul the resulting debris onto the surface and chop it into readily mulchable chunks, all in one pass. Depends on the tree and the ground though I imagine, on a big hardwood stump it seems to work more like a giant pencil sharpener, slower than a big grinder though without the flying debris.....All academic though, none sold nearer than Germany apparently.

Sorry to correct you Peter, but mulchers are designed to do whole trees and stumps. An AHWI RT400 will shred up stumps and roots of unlimited size in minutes.

That thing has got to have one of the highest engine size: implement size ratios going! 400 geegees to mulch an 8" birch (only joking!) But it'll keep the Middle East in 6-star hotels.
