Small ornamentals spcies list anyone?

Asking for help here, has anyone got a basic tree list (say 10-12 species) of small ornamentals suitable for garden plantation that includes pictures?

 

Got dragged into a job to remove some conifers, but the guy wants a replant species list from me as part of the job, but obviously doesnt want conifers:001_rolleyes:

Back section of any of the Hillier tree manuals have tree lists ad infinitum :biggrin:

 

What's the soil type / aspect / tree feature requirements (eg - bark interest, autumn colour etc...) / eventual height and spread limit? Tree species specification is a bit of an anorak hobby of mine... :blushing:
