Hi all, I have done a little climbing and spiking at work and would like to try pole climbing with the aim to enter next years East Anglian Game and Country Fair's climbing competitions and not embarrass myself. I live in Aldborough near Aylsham, Norfolk and wondered if any one out this way regularly meets up for a climb, either tree climbing or pole climbing.

Stuart.

Can't tell you about reccy climbs near you but wouldn't be worried about embarrassing yourself. Entered a comp years ago when I started (was still pretty useless) and found everyone pretty encouraging no matter your level. Good place to pick up tips and learn new techniques.

id always be up for a reccy climb, as for entering the comp just do it, theres plenty of times its quiet if thats what your worried about. ie get there before alot of people arrive or after alot have already left the show. :thumbup1:

before I found A.T i was considering entering the pole climb at the APF this year.

my research led nowhere, and couldnt even find a supplier of toe point spikes!

:001_rolleyes: No-one supplies toe spike you have to make them yourself as everyones feet are different and some like 30 degrees others like 20 etc, etc.:thumbup1: Just have a-go if you've never done it say if i do better than 25-30 seconds you'll be happy and aim for you own personal times, i mean theres guys that can do sub 10 seconds:thumbup:(not me)
