I've emailed the manager of a large scouting campsite about 10 mins walk from my house to ask if I can climb some of their trees for a bit of practice and fun. I've offered to do a bit of work to say thanks for the access. He's replied saying it should be fine and would like to meet up. He also asked to see my insurances. I can completely understand where he's coming from particularly in this day and age.

I'm not sure what the best thing to do is. Should I ask my boss if he's happy that I'm covered by his insurance? Discuss the option of signing a waver to free the campsite and any persons involved with its responsibility?

Any help appresheated guys:001_smile:

id say go for the waiver option, with a view to looking into getting your own.

your boss may say if youv got time for reccies, then youv got time for doing overtime, or even your not workin hard enough!!

ive basicaly done the same with my local private estate. http://www.grimsthorpe.co.uk

(nice place for a day out!)

Thanks for the replys. I thought a waiver would most likely be the best solution. I'm not entirely sure what sort of insurance he's expecting me to have to be honest as public liability is pretty much irrelivant (unless i fell out of a tree and injured someone).

i think your bosses insurance will only cover you when you are in work, public liability will cover you for any thing you break or crush be it people or property but will not cover you, for yourself you will need personal accident.

I think the scout leader knows that anyone on his property comes under his blanket insurance this may not however have a clause for tree climbing
