Equipment theft

During my brief spell on the forum I have noticed mention of theft comes up quite a bit.

Could be due to the fact that cars worth anything like the price of a new chipper for example are prob hard to steal!

Personally I think you can make it hard for thieves but if they target a bit of kit they succeed.

What do we have to do?

My kit is secure- but if I follow insurance guidelines to the letter it would cost a small fortune. More than the cost of a chipper.

Arb insurance is a scam- because underwriters will not take risks. They are covered from all angles, especially not paying out for a minor technical point.

Maybe the only valid reason for being anon on the forum is not to be veiwed by the potential thief when posting kit pics.

Any potentail theft of such big equipment will have been sussed out.

 

I used to do markets selling Dewalt, Makita bosch power tools etc with a huge tri axle exhibition unit.

 

I was followed home on numerous occasions. If they see you out doing a job they know what tackle you have anyway. All they need to do is follow you home or look you up in the ads.

I insure my chipper as an implement of my tractor on the tractor policy, that way its covered wherever it is even if its not attached to anything. This was the only way i could get cover for it while it is un attended in my yard.

Mines insured as a trailer
