The insurance company will at least ask you to provide details of your training and proof of your competance.

I'd hate to imagine the complexity of this if you don't have a nationally recognise ticket. Your position to me is selfish, you are not fit to trade imo and your obviously not informing your customers of this

You are not even worth a reply what tosh you talk. I have had my insurance examined by tpo officers and every thing is tip top im fully covered without tickets its the first thing thats asked. Wow you really believe a couple of week long courses makes some one more competent than my 5 odd yrs every day in a tree

I smell me some :heeeelllllooooo:

MOD, pull your horns in a bit!! A TO is not the insurer who refuses to pay out when you are found to not have adequate training. No-one is saying you are incapable of doing the job, and of course with the level of experience you have, you are obviously more than competent. Just go and get assessed, then you are classed as competent in the eyes of the insurer. We all know in this day and age, insurers will try to wriggle out of a claim if they can, the advice given here is in your own interest.

I make sure nothing can go wrong its called planning work site organisation. I have never in all my time in the trade hurt no one or nothing not because of luck but because i make sure i plan my work.

I know what my insurance covers i did have to go through it before i got the policy and since im clearly getting a excellent deal im not going to tell other people thats the competition. Like it or not we are all competing for the same work.

MOD, it might just be worth ringing your insurance and pretend you are a new customer. Then ask them what they require in terms of qualifications and how the deal with a claim.

Just to be sure

I'm sure you know what you are doing Work wise, but I had a very scarey call when the bloke who was in the basket with me in the MEWP when it tipped over started to sue me for his injuries.

Although the accident was not my fault, he sues me then I sue the cherry picker sales firm who then sue the manufacturers.

My insurance turned round and told me I wasn't insured because when I was using the cherry picker we were pointing a gable end and that wasn't Tree surgery.

You really do have to read the small print, they are B'stards to say the least, I could have ended up homeless and jobless
