As many as they put on lol.

Whilst a funny reply it is the truth.

Will they be in all day, or just use it at weekends?

Is it the primary heat source for a mansion or a room heater for a small room?

For us working from home & a 5kw stove as our only heat source running it solidly we use about 15m3 per year of hard woods.

Suppose its calorific value tables you are after then Stevie?

Mr Ed is the one who knows most on the subject that i know of, but dont think he ventures on here much now.

As Justme says many variables to consider. Is there a chance you might get some trade off them as a result of the information?

Mmmm, not sure i can help much, but i would give them good info on burning different types of firewood to suit their needs, like softwood being hot and probably best to reach maximum output of the stove but will need more cu meters per week to run.

Or hardwood if they are lazy at filling the stove and want it to stay in overnight.

Different prices, availability of each and reassurances of well seasoned stuff from you.

Then leave them to make up their own minds:thumbup:

It also depends on the amount of heat they want versus the most heat they want from the wood. I.e. They will get more heat by opening up the vents and letting the burner draw lots of air. The most efficient way to use a log burner is to load it right up and shut it right down. The burner then acts as a radiator rather than a fire. We have a tiny log burner and only tend to burn ash and beech. If it's not too windy it'll stay in all night, 8 hours. If we leave the vent open about 1-2 hours but christ does it get hot.

Most folk like to see flames and that's when it's not working efficiently.

Our little burner can keep in for 24/7 with as little as 0.5cuM a week.
