chinese tractor tyres

i'm probably answering my own question here but does anyone have any experience of chinese tractor tyres?

 

we have a NH6635 on 16.9x38's which is used mainly off road (pasture and woodland) but does some loader work on the yard but either way, she only does about 300 - 400 hours a year max.

 

anyway the goodyears on the back need replacing (circa £800 each) but i have seen chinese import tyres i can get a pair for £700 but am not sure how they will perform? although for the hours we do they would probably be fine.

 

any comments?

do you use tyre sealant, if not you will want to, there is no substitute for quality rubber, especially if your running in woodland, we used to run cheap tyres on the front of our JD6020 loader tractor and we were getting punctures every few months, if you can deal with the down time and fix them yourself its fine but we have gone back onto named brands and arent having anything like the problems.

 

the other option is to ring round local ag dealers and see if you can drop on a set of part worns, i have a set of goodyear 16.9x38s in my shed as a spare for my baler tractor, they have about 40% tread left, and cost me nothing at all as the dealer was going to have to pay for disposal

I have a chinese jinma tractor which is now 11 years old with approx 6000 hours on the clock. Tyres are still about 40% although I do no roadwork at all.

In the last year started to crack and break chuncks of rubber off down the centre of the tyre. Certainly lasted better than expected especially as I use with reduced air pressure on our boggy land.

never thought i'd hear of a jinma doing 6000 hours! fair play youve got your moneys worth then. any problems during those hours?

 

back to the tyres, i was concerned at the quality especially with the woodland work. i think if we were just on grass i would have no problem buying the cheap ones...

 

the goodyears are probably about 30% at the moment but with a loader on the front there no grip on the back especially with it being wet under foot and boggy also.

The Jinma has been very good although it is the 2 cyl engine which is no longer available due to European emmissions standards hence all spare parts have to come from America. Discovered on day one that the engine was designed to run on kerosene so have used kerosene all the time. Whats gone wrong with it. Electrics lasted about 2 days apart from starter and alternator but then who needs to work when its dark and we never go on the roads for indicators. Steering arm has been the weak link with castings having to be drilled and retapped with larger bolts. Hydraulic 'O' ring fails on regular basis but at 10p a go not a major issue . Front hub collapsed due to lack of oil and finally 6 months ago a new fuel pump as the bearings had collapsed. Would I get another Jinma yes but only if the quality was as good as my early import and definitely only the 2 cyl engine not the gutless 3 cyl. For the money I have been well pleased using all the old fergy equipment as well as newer Kuhn rotavator and moutainpress mini round baler.

You dont need new tyres you need a heavy rear weight block. Or water filled tyres.

i was thinking of trying water this week actually for what its worth. regarding a weight block, thats not possible as theres usually an implement or a trailer on the back. what happens with a trailer for example is that the would be a fair bit of weight coming through the drawbar at times which tends to push the back end of the tractor about (when going down a muddy track etc) because the lugs cant grip in and hold the steady route.
