thats what i thought, i guess the best way to do it is offer a box installation to a customer who im already working for, as an extra. you never know, it might catch on!

for those who want a box putting up, i can just charge a set price + materials (box)

so something like £50 including box... does that sound sensible?

i know its not gonna make me any money but i deffos dont want to be losing money lol

If you charge 50 quid, take the price of box out, spent time and fuel getting there, spend time putting it up, pack your stuff away and spent time and fuel either going home or to next job, you dont have much left.

Cool idea if you do it as an additional service whilst you are actually in someones garden, as then its an additional 50 quid:thumbup1:

i see your point, £50 isnt going to be much. but like you say, if my ropes already up the tree.... were talking £20- £30 ish profit. cha ching haha.

cant see many people phoning me up just to install a bat/ bird box however, but if they did i guess i would charge more.

Definately. If you already have ropes in the tree from work you are doing and they want to give you a few quid extra to put a bat box up, happy days:thumbup1:

Rather than waiting to be asked, buy a couple of boxes, keep them in the truck, and bring them up in conversation whenever you are at a job. No advertising costs and no additional travel.:thumbup1:

definitely, i think some homeowners would really go for it.

The ones that wouldn't like the idea, are probably the people who are getting their trees removed anyway, so i would have no where to put em lol.

If they haven't got any trees plant a sapling, cable tie a bat box to it and tell them it will be at the proper height in about 20 years.:laugh1:

i would use decent boxes, if you end up doing it as part of mitigation works its likely you will have to use specific types of box depending on the species your targeting, IE no point putting up boxes for daubentons in a woodland away from any water, etc

basically dont scrimp, use something like schwegler ones, and build this into your qoute and explain the benefits to clients
