silver birch dismantle

had this nice silver birch to dismantle today all down and chipped nd logged up by dinner time, apart from the bottom 10ft of the stem we are going to try out the guy who i was subbing fors brand new chainsaw mill that he got delivered today. just 4 of 5 conifers to dismantle at same place tomorow pictures to follow of day 2 and 3

Are you having a play with the mill then? Or are you going to use the timber afterward's for something? just remember when you mill through that crack (pic 5 30 degree ish) that that plank will split in half as it drys out. I assume its too small to quater mill?

i think hes just having a play to be honest new toy and all that i laughed when he said he wanted to mill it but there we are his job lol. not a clue about milling so i wouldnt like to say.

soon as he said he wanted try and mill it all i said was what about the mess its going to make still ill let him clear it up

day 2

 

conifer bashing time

 

3rd and 4th pics is shame that it split really low down so couldnt fell it all in one, would have been one for the stunt fell would have just fitted i reackon. since we couldnt fell it in one, i went up striped the big stem to a pole stuck a rigging line at top then attached it to the stem leaning over the hedge and shed and garage. came down and my idea was to just fell it and let the rigging rope swing it away from where it wanted to go, and into the garden where i wanted it to go, worked a treat last pic is just guys whos job it was messing about with his shiney new toy

 

day 3 was today

we just cleared it all up and moved all timber and tidyed up. now they desided they want all stumps out so thats tomorow mornings job grinding all stumps out. will take some pictures of totally finished to see what a difference its just a bare garden with 2 xmas trees in middle lol
