Thin it to let some light through,and give it a lift.then look and see about a reduction if still nescesary.

Crown clean & thats all I would do. She not going to live their for alot longer from what you say. It looks like a beutiful tree from the pic's & a fine plant to have at the bottom of the garden. If light is an issue then a light thin & lift along with crown clean. We all know of the response growth to heavy pruning..
