that's all very well arran, but no use if you want to install a wood burner,,, this year...

Did I forget to mention the 9p per kWh of heat produced? Let me put it another way:

say 25 kW burner = 25*24*365* 9p = £19,710.00, then say it only operates at full capacity at 20% of the time (averaged over the year) = £4,000. You are paid this to heat your own home.

You can install it this year and start claiming next year when the scheme starts. Are you still sure you really, really want a log boiler now????

Had to laugh when I read you were giving firewood advice to a bloke who's name on here is Firewoodman. I think he might have a moisture meter already mate.

that quote did make me laugh1:lol:

good advice on the stoves guys.

i already know about the RHI and i dont think it will be for wood burners, i think its aimed more towards pellets and wood chip

got no room for a woodchip setup, and dont want to pay for pellets

There was an article in Forestry Journal last year about someone who installed a Hunter woodlog burning stove and heated rad's of it with great effect - The FJ has been tossed out now but someone else might still have it kicking about.

We run two Clearview stoves at home - excellent stoves but like others have said before - dry timber makes all the difference - wood burns/water doesn't!
