Thats amazing Dave, small world isn't it and that does seem to be the same tree, except I arrived there by more humble means. Thanks for posting that, didn't notice last night as was deeply embroiled in the old man climbing thread:biggrin:

That looks very familiar, what were you flying mate, Robinson R22/44

We went round the Coromandel in a Hilux then went South past Rotorua to get the chopper to the DOC hut.

Spot on Arbclimber it was an R44, the jetranger was in for service for a couple of days and picked us up 3 days later, the pilots name was Silver and we flew into the Te Urewera natinal park, i think the chopper worked out around £350 for 4 people, so a good deal for 3 days in paradise.

The last 2 pics are on the west coast (south island)just past Punnakaki, a Kiwi lad i climbed with in Germany built his home there , he even put an outside bath on the veranda:thumbup:

Thought so, how sad am I? Recognising the helicopter from the instrumentation.

We pay about that price to have the R44 for an hour. Did you find it slightly concerning that when they are started from cold, on choke, they sound a bit like a knackered old chipper or big lawn mower?

Is the only way to travel though isn't it.:thumbup1:

  • 3 weeks later...
So yesterday it persisted with precipitation and today I ended up fiddling around doing little snippy hedge trimmy stuff in wet shrubbery so decided to stop for a break on the way home. S'funny how the day can change.

Nice pics of the lake there Taupoman,

so was it "persisting down" then?
