Something the wife and I have got going over the last three years. I wanted a way out of this industry when I get too old to hack working in the rain.

They're booked up until mid september right now. There's good fungi hunting (hamadryad) in the oak woods behind the yurts (although I wish I could take a saw to the rhodies) and some quite peculiar moribund woods of mature and decaying oak, beech and alder tothe side.

There's some awesome heritage trees on site, (ancient sweet chentnut with estimates between 400-1400), trees with unbelievable epiphytes for the uk, and generally a nice place to kick back and relax.

Winter is a good time to come. The last one was a beautiful. Clear, dry and crisp. Snow around to play. Toasty warm inside. Even better, you get to burn someone elses wood too!

This seems like a great place to have a good Foray, might wait till next autumn when i have a new pro spec camera to do some serious hunting for the Inonotus radiatus which loves an alder woodland! the epiphytes too sound like they would be very worthy of some serious effort.

Im going to make this a serious foraying trip and wait till i have all the right kit to do it justice, it looks like just the sort of thing I would get a massive kick out of, especialy looking at the accomadation and location!

Book in advance, we run about 6 months ahead on bookings. I'd join you for a forage. Found some ceps last year and a hedgehog mushroom. great eating.
