Went to climb this kauri last wk,a truly amazing experience and hard to come by for an englishman,feel very privileged.amazing views inside the canopy and beyond.

kauri was approx 35m height,DBH 1.75m,canopy spread 16m.truly amazing gentleman,hope to climb another some day,their are some down the coromandel with 25m scaffold limbs so to be fair this was a baby but a beautiful baby at that.

Cool pics mate, so gutted I never got around to climbing up one of these when I was in NZ.

Such magnificent trees and they support such a wide array of flora and fauna.

If you get an opportunity check out the Bluff Stream Kauri's in the Waitawheta Valley just

south of Waihi. Check this vid out on youtube: Bluff stream Kauri -Impressive

Sorry I dont know how to embed it.

Walking around in this valley you see all the stumps from the logging that went on and

think about the way the loggers managed to move these big lumps of timber to the mill.

common practice for climbing kauris is bare foot to prevent contamination,this kauri is approx 1000 yrs old and yes mani is getting closer to being the 1st 10 grand ginga lab
