That is a rather shallow way of looking and view of my post, i think it sad that YOU dont care what other people think of our industry.

I am not concerned with peoples view on me, but my proffesion, well it is all our responsabilities to reflect what we think of OURSELVES.

if you dont care, why think about AAAC status?:001_huh:

why should i waste my energy in worrying about what other people think, i do take pride in myself and i and i care about what i think of myself. The type of people who judge me or anything about me are no interest to me either, be it business or not.

The AAAC thing is a personal thing tbh, nothing more nothing less:001_smile:

I am a groundie, I dont swing nimbly through the canopies as many of you do, I look up to you guys every day. The art of pruning a tree is imo a skill, the art of moving competantly and gracefully through a tree is a skill. To put it bluntly, I have the deepest respect for the climber/arborist and always will have. They have skill, those who are at the top of their game. I would class myself as semi-skilled, I point at things with sticks, I drag stuff, tell people where to dig holes, tell em where to plant things, actually I have no skill whatsoever. But i get paid for doing this unskilled stuff, and earn more now than I would ever imagine when I left school at 16 with no real education.

Hama, could you take a physically fit and keen chap from the job centre, with no academic qualifications or consistant schooling and train him into an arborist, within 5 years with a bit of profffesional input regardign NPTC tickets etc?

The only thing I do that is any where near skilled is selling tree work to my clients and the public.

After that I only deliver what has been sold, thats the easy part.

Then it semi skilled work, thank you!

If you had said that he would need three A levels and a degree before he could begin training then I might accept that its skilled work.

You arent being asked to accept, thats your choice, and you may well be right, maybe I am wrong, certainly seems the "legal" definanition is in line with your views rupe.:sneaky2:
