110 300 tdi

I run a '93 110 form the environment agency. 200 engine with mucho clicks on the clock, I have just started adding 25% plain cooking oil to the fuel, it smells odd but goes ok . The 200 is a far more rugged engine than the 300. Its old and basic and keeps on going. My discovery has the 300 engine which is snappier, you are well advised to get one that has the revised timing belt arrangement.

The splines betwean the main gearbox and the transfer have also caused problems so listen for the clunk.Often a good idea to take a land rover nut along as they all clunk in many places.

I used to run 3 130's, and had a plethora of LR's for years. Also had a Navara doublecab.

I essentially want a 'van' that will go anywhere and can be hosed out. I want the simplicity of the tdi engine (no TD5 thank you), but would lke some snappier power...

I also Dont want to spend a fortune. We'll see what turns up. I may sell my chip truck to buy one seeing as it gets next to no use.

I have noticed that big BFG's tend to kill your MPG. certainly have on my Patrol.

Land Rovers anyday i run :

-82" series 1

-300tdi 130 tipper

-300tdi 110 hardtop with all mods to the engine

-td5 90 ( well thats the wifes) - managed to convert her from her nasty little jap sports cars, now she wouldnt have anything else..

I use the 110 daily and for all my long runs - i return about 28-30mpg even when towing on the motorway - she(the 110) does about 1200 miles per week - i run her on bio diesel 69p - 72p a litre at the moment.

There is no conversion needed for the 200 and 300tdi engines..

get a land rover a timeless classic that will never age.

I went out to buy a Hi-Cap and came home with a van , boarded, shelves, water heater, full roof rack. seat in the rear. In all its been better than a pickup. There is room for one to sleep in the dry too. Every thing stays dry (until the doors started to leak)

if you hear no clunks and no squeaks you need to worry.

if there is no water dribbling into the cab be really worried............

clunking and squeaking is your land rover talking to you, telling you how she is...
