Just because you cant see life doesnt mean it isnt there!

 

I cant prove it but i bet there is more soil fauna under an ancient beech than oak, due to the more acidic leaf fall of oak?

 

not only that but a great many rare and splendid things prefer beech to anything else, the hericiums just for a start, the olive oysterling too.

 

please correct me with scientific evidance, i welcome this as i can learn from it.

TQ413956 will take you to the entrance gate of the site, walk 500yds down the track an you'll see the tree

 

Thanks fella, got a question for all the GPS fans, mine does ten digit references only, I dont know how to use GR of lesser numericals, any clues how i do this on a garmin oregan 300?

Someone said they didnt want to kick about beech leaf/mast on the forest floor, so today i went to just display a little of what i speak.

 

Push those leaves aside, and find a great amount of life.

 

It always puzzles me why we clean up so vigorously under our trees, a circle of mulch is both astheticaly pleasing and incredibly functional. There is a high presence of defence organisms living in this beech leaf/mast litter.:thumbup1:
