Hi guys, great to read all your threads and see all the great work you guys do. I've been a general gardener for 5 or 6 years now, but got involved with a bit of tree work a year or so ago and love it.....i just need to get some more help and experience. I've just got cs 30 and 31 and had a go at climbing but not a great fan of heights. What i would like is for some kind person to give me a few climbing lessons before i decide to go for 38 and 39. For one thing it's a lot of money which i really don't have, and i need to know that i can stand the scary heights etc and that i'm not too cowardly to work up trees:001_smile: If anyone is having a bit of local climbing practice in the Dorset/ Hampshire area and wouldn't mind helping out a complete coward, please let me know. Many thanks to everyone anyway and hats off to you all for your great work. Cheers, Rob.

Wookie keep an eye on the forum for details of local get togethers, maybe a few experienced guys in your area will arrange something, then you can pop along and have a go in a more relaxed atmosphere than the working environment. Welcome to the forum:thumbup1:

Plan B....i've got access to very climbable trees at some of my customers properties where they can keep an eye on me should i need it...what if i got the climbing gear, found a safe accessible tree and set about hauling myself up and down to get use to the heights, technique etc.....would this do more harm than good ???.....just a thought :001_smile:

Proberly would yes. The genral rule is not to climb alone there was a thread on it a while ago, Im not sure wat other more experinced people would say but I think its a no go. Maybe if you just got some rope found a limb about 10 meters about chucked it over and practiced your knots etc itll be a step ahead if you get round to doing your 38/39

Theres a kent met in a weeks time I no its not ideal but its a thought.
