ive just set up on my own and went with the entec 25hp petrol. im very happy with it, it light, robust and reliable imo. look to pay around 4000 for one in good condition.

I got an Entec Chippit 25PH 2 years old factory reconditioned for £6500+vat that was in 2000 I am affraid to get rid of it as its been such a faithful servant. I would hate to buy a POS next time. Diesels are more unforgiving than petrols, when you run out of juice just empty the contents of your combi can into the tank.

Lol, the amount of times the combi can has saved the day, used alsorts of chippers little 25 hp timberwolf is a good machine if it doesn`t fit through its firewood. Any bigger conifer jobs hire bigger one in for the day. I think half the battle is keeping the thing secure i had to get container and good alarm.:bawling:

hi every1 im just after advice on wot chipper to buy for first 1,it wont be getting used everyday but it does need to be reliable and a bit unsure as wot to spend ? and also wots the going rate per day for all you self employed arborists out there ?

Try a few on demo and see....Are you intending to sell logs? if so you won't need much bigger than a 6" machine.

Look out for ex-demos, you can get yourself a bargin and without the hassle of an old machine breaking down during it's first blitz.

Baught my first one about a month ago.

Painfull on the wallet but it makes life considerably more reliable than hireing one for any job over a trailer.

Timberwolf 125 - It has the same size feed hole as the 150 but a less powerfull petrol engine instead of derv. Costs about £4K less new . You can get a new one for the same price as a decent secondhand 150. Good secondhand 125's seem pretty few and far between tho.
