You’ve taken the guard off you maniac!

So did I, after a period of learning how it behaves. It opens up the possibility of deeper cuts and undercuts. None of my other chainsaws have guards. Be careful and keep other limbs well away.

I did a few lifty and dead branches and some epicormic with it on first. Lack of vision annoying and you want the top of the bar for the really frizzy bits. You don't want to backbar heavily though. It's rough and it throws the chain if you haven't got the sidecover tight.

I agree. The one downfall of the tool is that it throws the chain quiet easily, especially if you force the cut or catch a thin branch. That side cover and plastic nut thing does seem flimsy.  If the nut ever broke, Id experiment with something else - maybe a locking wingnut and a massive repair washer?

It's the sprung tensioning mechanism. Even has a little internal catch for remounting the bar. All well and good until it breaks.

Took the plunge. Dead handy.

Saw another review yesterday and, combined with the free battery offer ending soon, and somones comment that nowhere has stock, decided I do actually want one of the new XGT pruners, UC029. Sods law, the only show with stock is a bit more £££ so 255 spent, should arrive tomorrow by Drop Hide Lose.

Reviews say it has a lot of torque and almost unstallable, so I am thinking it needs a bigger 3/8" sprocket for higher chain speed,  1.3mm bar and a full chisel chain.
