It varies a lot depending on how old it is and moisture content.

We once weighed it in builders bags on a weighbridge and it worked out at 7.5bags to the ton. This was really dry woodchip approx 22/25% m/c from the bottom of the pile, no leaf and about 18months to 2yr old.

The 100 c/m walking floor artics go about 25/28t when we load them full of woodchip which is no older than 6 months.

Hope this helps

Its a very simple formula to give you the exact answer to within 1kg and it goes thus. 1msqx volume to the power of 10/0.36. Assuming 0.36 is x then x+y with 4 carried over is 72% of the E=mc2. The answer....4 light years:confused1:. Feel free to just ignore me ha ha:lol:

  • 10 months later...

Had the same question, and just came accross a comprehensive excel spreadsheet which gives the answer. I was going to upload it, but it is twice the permitted size for the forum so it wont let me.

Anyone know a way i can get around that to post it?

Failing that, follow this link and download it yourself;
