How do you find is best to strap bulk bags of logs down to a trailer to deliver? I'm finding the contents settle during transport and I sometimes have to stop to tighten the ratchet straps up further. I put one strap from the front nearside of the trailer across the top of the bags to the rear offside of the trailer and then do the same again from front offside of the rear nearside with another strap so they're in a cross on top of the bags. Then I have an elasticated net over the top of it all.

I do bounce the bags as I fill them but there is still a bit of settling happening. Is it because they're vented bags they have a bit more give in them than the solid bags? Just looking for any advice please.

The only way to stop 'em moving is to ratchet them tight and then flick the strap whilst uttering the magic phase "going nowhere that".

How solid do you want them tied down? Sounds like you are doing enough so you don't loose anything - net on top should hold everything in place but there will be some movement whatever you do. If you want to add a little more security a tarp instead of a net on the remote chance log bounces clear out the bulk bag and through the net, tarp will hold that in.

A thought, how many bags fit on your trailer? I'd maybe have it so each has a strap running mostly over it's centre, 6 bags and the middle 2 might need a strap going cross ways.

That method does work when its IBCs I'm transporting 😁

Its an 8x5 trailer so I can only fit 2 x 1m3 bags on. I just want to make sure if I were to be stopped by the police that I don't end up in bother for not having the load strapped down properly. Moving solid objects like IBCs is fine, you tighten the straps and that's it done. But with the bags the straps go slack after a few miles I'm finding.

Might not be the same, but my 12x6 ifor I found one of those stretchy chinese cargo nets works.

Ratchet down then net over. Or vice-versa if you want.   Showing you've tried is key, I think.

You've made best efforts and so unless you loon around and attract attention, you ought to be good.

Ought to be...as in, if they want to stick you on they will.
