This is what I did in the past, and made it clear to any construction firm I quoted for that I would expect payment in full. Only reason is that is made my accounting easier.

Going off at a tangent, I have quoted for work today for a domestic customer who wants some work doing on overhanging vegetation from the adjacent unoccupied house which is owned by the HS2 project. I explained that he could try to claim it back from such a big organisation, but he would have to pay me for the work.
