Always go as big as you can.

It’s a td5 15p mate, had stage 2 map and intercooler. Bout 180bhp, pulls pretty well

I lost count the amount of times I was glad not to have a smaller trailer/the amount of jobs that produced 6.5-8m3 of chip. (The 12 holds 8m3, the 10 6m3 iirc)

you won’t get 6 or 8 bags on, loaded bags splay out/are wider than 1m, loading loaded bags of logs I found 4 was the max

you’ll over load either with heavy chip, but the 12 can be legal fully loaded

go for the 12

I could find a total volume size for them so cheers. Thats handy to know that it still can be legal when full as it kind of defeats the purpose bit for me, although im guessing you rarely break 30% which is now the threshold for potential court summons, where as with a 3.5 tipper im guessing most of the time folk are 50% at least.

You can also carry cars, Land Rovers, plant etc on the 12 foot.
If I could only have 1 trailer it would be a 12 foot Ifor tipper - they are the most adaptable bit of kit on the market IME.

yeah fair point, I fancy getting a series as a project when I have the time. so it could come in very handy

I have a 12ft Ifor tipper with high sides. I used to tow it with a remapped Td5 Disco 2. If the trailer was pretty full it would like to try and snake above 45-50mph, and that was with good nose weight. On a weighbridge with it full to the top with chip fresh from felling (can't remember if it was conifer or deciduous) it weighed in at 2990kg. Go 12ft every time I say.

12 foot here too, I've got Brian James though. Based on what people who have ifors tell me the ramps are easier and lighter on mine, and it tows quieter, so I'd definitely suggest looking at both.

I tow mine with a 110 hardtop, so I've got the long door mirror stalks fitted to see round it, and then the extra trailer width is not really an issue.

Keep thinking about a remap, especially when the trailers full. Always get there though, just need to be patient.
