fixed length shift aye 15 hours being thrown about the cab sounds like the dream doesn’t it ?? I’m sure you hand cutters are away at 2pm after a nice walk around the woods talking in the scenery…..

Who are you forwarding for?

I’ve cut up north and at it’s peak it was day rate, plus 50. Plus dinner (ended up being about 20/30 quid for dinner) as it really takes it out of you working school hours on a saw. Really works up an appetite.

It’s different in a machine I’d say though as it’s harder to find saw men willing to go far.

It’s mental expensive in some bits up north, and sometimes it’s only really petrol stations (shitty expensive ones at that) that you end up eating out of for your breakfast/lunch. I could easily spend 20 quid at them and still be starving.

Worth mentioning, machine operators at the same company got no fuel money extra, nothing for food and had to pay there own digs or stay in there caravan.
In exchange they got a better tonneage rate which I would say is the absolute minimum
