Saw and bought these X5A's reduced to £31. I shall wear them for chipping. I might adapt the original protos bracket to fit them, as I'm never going to want the originals again once its done.

 

An update. I lost my previous pair of X5A's, a great annoyance. I have looked everywhere, multiple times.

 

I then bought the plastic clip. I thought it was wider, nope, just has a slightly bigger slot, that is all.

 

New pair of X5's fitted, they are huge.

 

This upgrade has cost me about £110. Bugger.

In the event that anyone actually likes the fitted ear muffs I have a brand new pair of blue and yellow ones taken from an out-of-the-box new helmet.
