Hello

I have this tree and im thinking some type of sallow ? Its not in my book and unusual catkins

the catkins are growing up from the end of the branchs and the leaf buds innitally have hairs on them untill they open. The catkins are also hairy at the base. The bark is smooth grey with spots on it

Any thoughts ?

I think magnolia is Asian origin. Hence why it may not be in your book.
They should not be pruned until after they flower in an ideal world.
