I have a 2 year old petrol TW 230HB.

Well maintained and not excessively overloaded (reason for this is that I own the business and I am on the tools every day, so I know the extent of use on all the company tools and plant and i ensure none of it is misused).

My 230HB, purchased from Green Plant, Guildford 2 years ago has not missed a beat, until...

3 weeks ago the throttle malfunctioned.

When starting the chipper on low or high throttle,  the chipper would immediately kick into the expected high revs for normal use and processed input waste as expected.

At the inception of the malfunction,  the chipper would usually start and then immediately increase to full power, even if the throttle lever was set to idle, and then continue to feed  chip and process input waste.

Within a few days of this fault, the chipper then started to fluctuate in power level, slightly above or below expected revs.

This was shortly followed  by engine shut off.  The engine shut off occurred sporadically; sometimes straight after ignition, other  times, as soon as feed rollers engaged with input of wood

All the obvious maintenance is carried out in accordance with guidance regarding grease, blades, oil levels etc etc

I took the chipper back to Green Plant for a full service expecting the problem was caused by dirty filters.

After the full service and new fuel and air filters, the original problem still prevails.

The chipper is still with Green Plant and i hope to collect it this week once they identify and repair the problem.

I wanted to share this story in case anyone else is in, or has been in, the same dilemma.

As soon as the incredible mechanics at Green Plant have diagnosed and resolved the problem, I will post it here in case it might be helpful to anyone else experiencing the same problem.

This post is not intended as criticism against Green Plant, Guildford.

They have been very supportive in sales and service and I have no doubt the mechanical failure on my machine will be resolved and repaired in due course.
