No need mate.

Old truck, big ladder, cheap saw, hey presto! You are a 'tree surgeon'.

You can even say you're fully qualified and insured if you want!

Seriously, this site is a great place to start. Watch some vids, look at some pics, read some posts.

Local college (Sparsholt?) would be next step.

Good luck with it.

Keep going as a plumber and do the tickets one by one spread over as much time as you need to pay for it. And keep an eye at for jobs. Leaving a good job for a possible job in arb with no tickets is like jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane and hoping to land safely but without a parachute!

If you have work as a plumber,I would use that to fund my training.

The sort of money you will earn as a new arb might not live up to expectations, and if you go it alone it is an expensive investment in kit/insurance&training,followed by a long learning curve.

That is just my opinion!

sparsholt is probably your best bet, if you want to get into the industry quickly then sparsholt offer the NC in arboriculture which takes a year and i tihnk its 3 days a week. you get all the relevent training and NPTC tickets.

best to do a course, learn a bit about why you are carrying out work to trees ect...

i did 3 years at sparsholt , Level 1 woodland skills then onto ND arbouriculture. i would really reccomend the college .

here are some details about the course.Sparsholt College Hampshire - City & Guilds National Certificate in Arboriculture

hope this helps .

thankyou that should help me. do u no as i am 20 if i will have to pay for the course?

i think you may have to, however if its your first level 2 course i think you get it for free ? but dont quote me on it as i am unsure, if you call the college and ask to speak with Kith Weale he will be able to give you all the information you require. Keith is the NC tutor so wil know the most about it.
