Market rates and expenses... a yard in London, congestion charges, ULEZ... and expensive logs, cheaper land in the highlands, lower cost of living and wages makes logs cheaper there.

My supplier is doing 1m cages of barn dried Ash for £140 which I find acceptable. Considering he was quoted £100 per tonne by the Artic load in the round!

Hi Whoppa Choppa   Thanks for responding but what do you mean by a 'cube' of firewood?  How does this relate to a cubic metre?  Are you talking about loose fill or tight packing?  W

Loose to fill 1 cubic metre space. Absodefinitely.

13/10/24: I am now charging £230.00 for a 2cu mtr  load of loose logs seasoned ,

Gloucestershire ,but will have to up again soon due to price of cordwood rising.

I assume the demand for woodchip by  industrial users is what’s driving the price up, well that’s what I am telling my log customers. They see all this Ash being felled along roadsides and assume that there’s a plentiful supply[ Surplus!!!!] of it and can’t understand why prices of logs keep rising.

Precisely that.

We're up to £225 for 1.8 cube of kiln dried hardwood for this winter. Delivered up to 20 miles away.

It's not ideal but we're having to pay a premium to get hold of any hardwood this year.

A lot of firewood suppliers have gone out of business so we seem to be busier than ever so far.
