Should my woodburner be this rusty?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

This is a heta inspire, installed maybe 5 years ago. Used a few times a week when cold, or a few times a month when not too bad. I discovered this rust round the back, which I assume isn't ideal. Does it mean condensation is running down the chimney liner inside? Should I be concerned? There's enough rust to brush off loose flakes, and it smells a bit sooty when there's a down draught...

Thanks.

Not unusal especially is houses suffering from damp or condensation.

Clean it up using wire wool and respray with 2 or 3 coats of Heta stove paint.

Do not use other stove paints as some are oil and someare water based and dont play nicely together.
