I hire mine to a good friend who I trust 100% and he looks after it as well as I do.

But other than that I would only hire it out with an operator which would be me.

I'm sure he loves you too mate I will let him know that you think so highly of him

just been asked tonight if i'd hire my jenson and van to a guy i used to work with who'd priced a job unseen , and come unstuck with it.

large sweet chestnut to remove.

i've told him yeah, but i'm feeding it, but as he's a mate, and in a fix, i'll do it for £200 for the day. he's said i'm too dear :confused1:

its gonna cost me £50 for fuel for the day, wear n tear on the truck n chipper

take it or leave it i think

That's more than reasonable mate.

Time he's hired one, transported it, juiced it and fed it himself he may have a different perspective....

That would be mostly no then. 6 inch chipper is the same price as a good 2 tonne mini digger and they shed parts for fun, yet generally only £60.00 per day!

Why are we so precious about chippers?

I do throw a fit when people put saws on the cowling :confused1:

Hi,

Probably a little off thread here, but it's in the same vein..............i think!

I'm new to arb work and although in the past 5 months i have accquired quite a few tickets, I realise that with my experience i'm not going to be able to earn too much.

I have a bit of cash to spend so my question is this..............is there any mileage in trying to hire myself out as a second climber/groundie complete with chipper, tipper and a place to dump chip and logs?

As i think this might help cover the gap between experience and earnings?

Appreciate your thoughts!
