Hi 

 

Please can you identify this type of conifer? Do u think I should prune it or just fell it. Its not that big of a garden

Yep. Sweet bay is essentially a topiary species. The harder you clip it the thicker it leafs up. Nothing you can't do with it if you've got a big enough step ladder.

 

Holly isn't bad either as long as you're planning a long life and you have plenty of patience.
